Shademakers UK are proud and honoured to be taking part in the The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pageant celebrating the 70 year reign of The Queen.

Shademakers will be showcasing The Queen’s Beasts.

Heraldic Beasts come to life in this Celebration of Her Majesty’s long reign, a panoply of creatures released to dance to the rhythms of drums and pipes from across the world, from North, West, East and South. Mankind plays its role in the construct of a World of fantastic imagination and investment in the Sovereign to come together from farmyard creatures of the field to the destiny of the Heavens .

But, for your information. The broad range of creatures evident in heraldic crests relate to the various activities which families denote their ancestry. Of the lower orders, wealth and status, balanced on the tightrope between success and obscurity meant the symbolism of coats of arms indicated pecking order in a feudal system.

Using a reference to the ‘Bauernkrieg’ of 1515, which was brutally suppressed by the German kings. Albrecht Durer, in his ‘treatise on geometry’ designed a monument to commemorate the farmers uprising. He himself had royal patronage as a goldsmith to the court and appears to have disappeared for a few years on his Italy tour. The fact he was an Artist and German and survived has some bearing, which we shall not publicly divulge.
